Andrea attended the birth of my 10th child Bella Louise. I have known Andrea for many years now and have always been impressed with her deep caring for others. She has the perfect combination of professionalism and simcere concern for the comfort and happiness of her clients. During my labor when things were taking longer and were more painful than I had previously experienced Andrea helped the situation stay calm and peaceful. She is an excellent doula and is on her way to becoming a knowledgeable and capable midwife as well. -Sarah Pachev
I was aware that my baby was going to be born with a cleft and I was scared and nervous. Then I met Andrea, she knew just how to be both compassionate and encouraging. After hiring her as my doula, I became excited about the birth of my baby. When I went I to labor, Andrea was able to meet me at the hospital and help me communicate better with the Drs. and Nurses. My Baby had to spend time in the NICU, but Andrea stayed with me until she knew I was calm and settled. She helped me feel m9re conf8dent about pumping for my baby to eat as well. This was my 5th child, and by far the most positive experience I have had with a birth. Thank you Andrea for helping me bring my beautiful little girl into this world in a peaceful positive way. -Virginia Johnson
My sweet Rebecca came into this world in the most sweet and happy birth imaginable. My doula Andrea Garn and my mid-wife Melody Pendelton Dicken were like the angels giving support and help as this little girl entered the world in a completely natural and beautiful birth. My wish is that all Mamma's and their babies could have an equally peaceful and glorious birth experience. A doula is a good way to make that happen. Andrea is a doula who is a true advocate for your emotional, spiritual and physical preparation. She is a wonderful listener and is a true professional friend. I am grateful to have shared in the birth experience with her as she brought the peace of feeling ready and excited, reverence for the miracle of new life and she brought assurance and confidence with her guidance and presence throughout the process. – Dawn Marie
I was not sure if I wanted or needed a doula when I got pregnant with my first child. I knew I wanted a natural birth but didn't know what to expect. So I hired Andrea not knowing how I would like a professional support person once my labor began. I studied the Bradley Method. I was a little worried about how I would be able to communicate with Andrea and how she would take the things I said to her but she reassured me. It turned out that Andrea was so kind and did everything I asked and more!!! I couldn't have asked a friend to do what Andrea did for me.
Throughout the whole 9 hours that she was there she was right there for me, responding to my every need. My husband was sleep deprived and exhausted from all the labor work we did at home before arriving to the birthing center. So having her there was such a blessing because she took over completely when he needed to sleep. She never left my side and made me feel strong and cared for as well as making my contractions not hurt. I would really love to have Andrea present for any future births I have.

Andrea was our doula for the birth of our beautiful baby girl. Andrea met with me before the birth to help answer questions and teach me some pain coping techniques. She was also able to educate me on pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding. She has many resources to help me understand any questions I may have. Andrea is very patient, understanding, and has a calming influence on everyone involved. She is very encouraging of my husband and supportive of his role in the delivery. I loved having Andrea as my labor coach and doula. I highly recommend her to anyone who is expecting a baby!

When my husband and I decided to have a home birth, I knew I wanted a doula. This was my fifth baby and every other time I had ended up getting an epidural. A friend introduced me to Andrea, and I am sure grateful! She came to prenatal midwife appointments with me, helped me work up a comprehensive birth plan, and gave me general encouragement throughout the pregnancy.
My labor experience was an interesting one. I started labor on a Thursday in the middle of the night. All the signs were there for labor. Friday morning I called Andrea and my midwife and they came right out. They waited with me for a while, but when they checked my dilation, my pressure waves stopped. They all went home telling me not to worry about it, and that they were sure it was almost time. Friday evening my pressure waves started up again and were consistent and close together. We called them again at 7:30 Friday night. They came... checked me at 9:30, and pressure waves stopped again. Everyone started to leave again at 11:30 pm, but Andrea stayed a little longer and showed my husband some pressure points to push to relieve some discomfort during a contraction. She also had the intuitive insight to suggest that maybe there were some emotions tied to my labor stopping when I got examined for dilation and effacement. Of course, childbirth is a very sacred, spiritual experience. When she left, my husband and I did some soul searching and praying and we found that I did, in fact, have some issues that I needed to forgive and let go of.
Then, miraculously, labor started again about 12:30 the same as the other times, but this time it didn't stop. My husband was up with me several times, using those pressure points Andrea showed him (for which I am SO grateful). We ended up getting to transition without me realizing because I was using hypnobabies and was relatively comfortable. We texted Andrea and the midwife literally five minutes before the baby was born into my husband's hands. They came very soon after, and Andrea had the presence of mind to take the only pictures of that day while she was there checking on my well being and that of the baby, too. She even took the time to talk to my older children and make them feel special and not left out during all the excitement. For the next two weeks Andrea kept tabs on me and gave me help with breastfeeding and increasing my milk supply. She knew what things to try to help me sleep and avoid baby blues. She referred me to a chiropractor who specialized in infants to help my baby with a couple of minor problems.

I am so thankful for Andrea and all of her support and knowledge, and insight. Even after having four children previous to this one, I am surprised at how helpful she was, and all she was able to teach me. I am going to recommend her to all of my friends when they are expecting.
